It’s about what you believe in...

At Medican, we believe that we bring a new wave of trust, excellence and care in building a community. Care for the cities we select to build in, excellence in the product we deliver, and trust that we continue to serve you from the moment we meet.

Concrete, steel and lumber make the building, but people make the community. The people of Medican have a perpetual goal to make a difference in other people’s lives. There is no finer way than providing them with quality homes. These homes then contribute to our continued goal to support community initiatives and youth development, such as our very own Eagle’s Nest Ranch founded by the owners of Medican, Wes and Janice Reinheller.

Eagles Nest Ranch is a non-profit interdenominational kids camp dedicated to positively impacting the lives of our youth. Thousands of lives have been touched through more than 20 years of summer camp programs and year-round activities. Each summer, Medican employees take part in the “Send a Kid to Camp” program that provides less fortunate children the opportunity to attend camp because of thousands of dollars in donations from the employees.

Medican was a major sponsor of the “Change Our Country Tour”, traveled by skateboarders from the Medicine Hat Skateboard and Eagles Nest Ranch. The group traveled from Medicine Hat to Calgary to Sylvan Lake to Kelowna to Penticton in just six days. The objective of the trip was to “Change the Country” by doing community service in the cities visited, improve the image of skateboarders, and have fun while building the team. Medican, believing in supporting youth and investing in the communities we are a part of, was proud to sponsor the tour.

Medican has an extremely long term commitment in the town of Sylvan Lake with three projects planned. Because of this, Medican has been and continues to be involved in several initiatives in the community. The multi-plex was government funded, but eventually ran short of funds before the facility was completed. Medican donated the additional funds needed to finish it, which amounted to $250,000. The building has now been named the Medican Multi-Plex. Medican also re-designed the marina in Sylvan Lake with an environmentally friendly floating dock system (the project was completed in summer, 2007; the whole initiative cost in excess of $500,000).

Medican is also helping fund a feasibility impact study within the town looking into building a second marina.

Medican is also proud to be a part of the Westbank community. The company recently became a large partner in the Westbank Royal Lepage Arena by donating $100,000.00 to the arena.

In early 2008, employees of the company and their families will be taking part in Medican’s “Homes for Hope” project in Ensanada, Mexico where they will build four homes in four days. The project will assist individuals in Mexico that live in poverty, and who have little left to improve their living conditions once they have found a way to feed themselves. The Homes for Hope project is in partnership with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), and Medican is proud to be sponsoring the cost of the materials required for homes (as well as a portion of the accommodations of the employees).

The heart of Medican is in initiatives like these, with an everlasting ambition of impacting the lives, homes, and communities of others with humanitarian efforts whenever (and wherever) possible. The people of Medican are ‘hands-on’ with their endeavors, and give back not only at Christmas time or at times of high publicity but all year round. Staff and homeowners find being part of such a philanthropic company especially rewarding, and know that by supporting Medican they are supporting something much greater.
