Assisted Living Complex, Okotoks AB
In July 2010, Medican secured the contract to build a multi-million dollar assisted living complex in Okotoks, Alberta. The project is being funded by the Alberta government and the Brenda Stafford Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Calgary. It is located on a five-acre parcel of land in the northwest Sandstone subdivision of Okotoks. When completed, the 152 unit building will provide assisted living accommodations senior citizens.
Construction Update - September 30, 2011: Work on the Tudor manor project is proceeding well. Crews have been busy framing and the structure is taking shape.




Heritage Heights, Medicine Hat AB
Medican was awarded the construction management contract for the expansion of South Country Village’s senior’s complex in Medicine Hat (near the airport). Medican is overseeing construction of the four storey, 40 suite building. The $8.5 million Heritage Heights expansion will cover a total of 64,000 sq. ft. and feature common amenities and underground parking.
Construction Update- September 30, 2011: Interior work on the Heritage Heights project is well under way. All suites have been drywalled. Most of the corridors and stairways have been drywalled as well. Taping in all drywalled areas is picking up speed now. Cabinets have been installed in 15 suites and seven suites now have flooring. The elevator installation has started and is scheduled to be com- plete in six weeks. Meanwhile, work on the exterior continues. Stonework is 90 per cent complete as is siding. The parking lot should be complete in about two weeks with prep work having been started.





Extendicare, Edmonton AB
The Extendicare assisted living facility in Edmonton, AB is scheduled for completion in 2011; when completed, it will be a modern nursing home designed for the needs of aging Albertans.  Medican is managing construction 180-bed center.  This winter, crews are contending with heavy snowfalls and bitter cold. 
Construction Update- May 31, 2011: Interior finishes are continuing on Building One, while exterior finishes are in progress. Drywall and taping are in progress in Building Two. Exterior  finishes are in progress. Drywall and taping are in progress on Building Three as is work on the exterior  finishes.




Extendicare, Lethbridge AB
The project is complete (on time and on budget), and Extendicare began moving clients into the facility beginning in January, 2011.  A grand opening was held on February 17, 2011.
